Air Ambulance Receives Lift From Airport Staff

08 Dec 2011

The Essex Air Ambulance Trust is set to benefit from a bumper cash boost thanks to the generosity of staff and companies based at Stansted Airport.

Over 140 employees attending the airport's annual stakeholder dinner dipped in their pockets and raised over £2500 during the charity raffle, an impressive £1000 more than the previous year.

Nick Barton, London Stansted's Managing Director, said;

"I would like to say a huge thank you to all the companies who donated such superb prizes for the raffle. The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust is a very worthy charity that is local to the airport with a focus on aviation. They provide an important service to our passengers and I am pleased we have been able to support them this year.

"It was a great evening and provided a fantastic chance to further develop 'Team Stansted' and continue our commitment to improve the working relationships between us, the airport operator, and other on-airport companies."

Nina Benscher, from the Earls Colne based Essex Air Ambulance Trust, said;

"Essex Air Ambulance is extremely grateful to everyone that organised and attended the airport's annual stakeholder dinner. The amount that was raised is absolutely fantastic and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support. As the Charity relies completely on public donation, fundraisers such as this really do make a massive difference to keeping the helicopter flying and saving lives across Essex. From us and all the people who you have helped saved, thank you."

The annual stakeholder dinner has become one of the airport's key networking and business activities of the year. Invited guests ranging from airlines, retailers, ground handlers and other service providers such as the Police and transport operators, gathered at Stansted's Radisson Blu Hotel to celebrate the airport's 20 year anniversary and look forward to the next 20 years.
