Airport backs youth volunteering project
14 January 2013
A youth organisation that helps young people gain skills through volunteering has received a £2,000 cash boost thanks to the Stansted Community Fund.
The donation will allow the Royston Volunteer Centre to expand the support available to the growing number of young people volunteering in Royston and the surrounding villages.
Denise Graham, Royston & District Volunteer Centre Manager, said
“We are delighted to receive this donation from the Stansted Community Fund. The money will help us make a real difference to the lives of young people involved in volunteering by helping them to access the many benefits of being involved in their local communities. The skills they will gain through their experiences and their increased confidence will really help them flourish.”
Marcella M’Rabety, Fund panel member and the airport’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, said:
“We are all aware these are very difficult economic times and with many younger people struggling to find jobs, volunteering is an ideal opportunity to learn new skills and improve career prospects. The Fund’s panel was particularly pleased to be able to support this project and continue to demonstrate the strength of our commitment to the local communities surrounding the airport.”
The Stansted Community Fund supports volunteering, environment and youth projects within a 40 miles radius of Stansted Airport.
