Cash Boost For Animal Charity

19 Dec 2008

BAA Stansted is once again donating cash to charity instead of sending company Christmas cards this year.

Airport bosses decided to continue its support for local good causes by donating £1,400 to the Animal Rescue Charity in Bishop's Stortford, rather than sending thousands of festive cards to staff.

"Sending Christmas cards each year can add up to a considerable sum and we felt the money could be put to better use. The Animal Rescue Charity came top of a recent staff poll, and we're thrilled to lend our support to such a worthy cause," said Valda Edmunds, BAA Stansted's community relations manager.

The Animal Rescue Charity, affectionately known as 'the small charity with a big heart', was set up in 1990 and provides a safe haven for neglected and unwanted animals.

Cherry Mitchell from the Animal Rescue Charity, said:

"This donation will make a significant difference to the animals in our care, especially at this time of the year when our resources are stretched. We are extremely grateful to everyone at the airport for this kind donation."
