Community groups urged to apply for airport funding
11 January 2013
Community groups surrounding Stansted Airport are invited to apply for funding of up to £2000 to help support projects and initiatives during 2013.
The Stansted Airport Community Trust offers grants to projects within a 10 mile radius of the airport that protect and enhance the social, economic and environmental well-being of the community. An independent panel of judges, chaired by Councillor Susan Barker, will agree where the money will be distributed.
The closing date for the latest round of applications is February 28, 2013. To apply contact Stansted Airport Community Trust, PO Box 11, County Hall, Chelmsford, CM1 1LX, or email email@example.com for an application form or advice.
Over £250,000 was donated to various charities and community groups by the airport’s three charitable trusts in 2012 including a whopping £50,000 to ‘Destinations’, a Harlow based project helping youngsters onto the career ladder.
Other highlights included a £10,000 grant towards the Friends of the Flitch Way’s innovative scheme to transform an old railway carriage into a museum. Thaxted Windmill Management Committee received £4000 to replace sails on the iconic landmark, while Dunmow Jubilee Allotments established an apiary thanks to a welcome donation.
