13 February 2013
London Stansted is delighted to announce that Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust will be the focus of the airport’s fundraising efforts for 2013 after being chosen by staff as its charity partner.
Throughout the year, airport staff will be involved in a number of events to raise funds and awareness for the charity that provides a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for Essex and Hertfordshire.
Nick Barton, Stansted Airport’s Managing Director, said:
"We're delighted to welcome Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust as our charity partner and by supporting them we will also play our part in saving lives of people who live in our region. Having a charity partner provides a strong focus to the airport’s fundraising efforts, offers staff volunteering opportunities and helps us play a critical role in supporting good causes in our local community."
Helena Morgan, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust Fundraising Manager, said the organisation had already planned a programme of events, activities and staff volunteering projects at the airport. "We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as Stansted Airport's charity partner for 2013. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity and look forward to an exciting year of fundraising ahead," added Helena.
Airport staff raised over £12,000 for 2012 charity partner, Panathlon Challenge. The Essex based charity, which organises sporting competitions for disabled youngsters, put on various fundraising activities throughout the year, including a special mini Paralympic Games in the terminal building.
