Stansted's head of public affairs and communications, Ashley Riley, addressed the Chamber on Stansted's plans and how the town can play a central role as the airport grows in the future.
"Harlow is a forward thinking town with big ambition and we're committed to supporting those ambitious plans for regeneration and future prosperity. It's on the doorstep of Stansted and is already connected by excellent transport links," said Mr Riley.
"Stansted brings employment, business and travel opportunities to the residents and companies of Harlow. We want the town to work with us to maximise these opportunities and enjoy the benefits a successful international airport brings to the area.
"We are proud to play an active and positive role in the thriving community that surrounds the airport. We donated nearly a quarter-million pounds to Harlow projects in 2008 and nearly 600 people from the Harlow area work at Stansted - we want to grow that number in the years ahead.
"These are undoubtedly tough times for us all but challenges always bring possibilities. By working together with local business and industry, we can ensure that both Stansted Airport and Harlow are ready and able to take advantage now and when the economy begins to recover."
The event was hosted by the Harlow Chamber of Commerce at the Park Inn Hotel, Harlow on Wednesday, 18th February 2009.
