Furneux Pelham School will use the donation to provide an all-weather outdoor play provision. A short all-weather track will lead to the play area, enabling the children to play outdoors in wet weather.
Sue Skelton, Head teacher of Furneux Pelham School, said:
“We are delighted to receive this money to support our development of the play facilities in the school grounds. It will make a huge difference to us and enable us to complete our project much more quickly - thank you very much!"
Thorn Grove School applied to the trust to request help with the provision of an After School Club, which is a much needed facility within the community. The funds will specifically be used to buy resources to facilitate the club, which will be located in self- contained building in the grounds of the school.
Philippa Roy-Chowdhury, Head teacher of Thorn Grove Primary School, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled with the donation from Stansted and are delighted to announce that building work will commence during the school Summer holiday. Thank you Stansted; you have made a real difference to our school!”
Marcella M’Rabety, Stansted Airport’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, said:
“We are all aware these are very difficult economic times, and that the aviation sector continues to be affected by the downturn, so we are particularly pleased to be able to support these projects and continue to demonstrate the strength of our commitment to the local communities surrounding the airport.”
