Contemporary, convenient, innovative and stylish – just four simple words to describe the very exciting line up of new restaurants, bars and cafes being unveiled today as part of Stansted Airport’s £80million terminal transformation.

World famous brands to exciting new concepts; celebrity chef treats to good old fashioned favourites are waiting in the wings to join the menu at Stansted.

Demand from the Industry to get involved with this major redevelopment at Stansted was so high that over 70 individual food and beverage brands submitted tenders for just the 12 available units. The final selection delivers a wide and varied choice for customers whether they want to relax in style or quickly ‘grab and go’ and caters for all budgets and tastes.

Improving passenger facilities is a key driver of this multi million pound development and all the new food and beverage options are being located in one dedicated area, nearest the exit points to departure gates, giving passengers the convenience of making choices quickly and ensuring they can sit and relax safe in the knowledge they’re as close as they can be in the process before gate numbers are announced.

Screens are also being installed in all cafes, bars and restaurants so that flight status information is never more than a quick glance away and with general seating available in the area too, passengers opting for take away options don’t have too far to go.

Beth Brewster, the MAG Retail Director responsible for delivering the new and improved international departure lounge at Stansted said:

“We’re not just giving Stansted a make-over, this is a multi-million pound investment to create contemporary, convenient, innovative and stylish terminal facilities and I’m sure all our passengers will be thrilled to see the new and exciting range of cafes, bars and restaurants that have secured their part in this exciting development. We’ve listened to what passengers want and really hope they will all be delighted with the choices on offer.

“We’re not over the finish line yet and are about to go out to tender for the final phase which will be home to both high street and high end retail fashion. Interest is already coming in from within the industry and having taken note of what passengers are saying we also know the types of styles and brands they will be hoping to see and will work hard to deliver an exciting range for our customers.

“The first phase of our new departure lounge development will open to customers later this month, giving an insight into the sign of things to come at Stansted and the exciting times ahead.”

The new Burger King will open for business later this year and all remaining cafes, bars and restaurants in Spring 2015.
