The Stansted Community Fund, part of the BAA Communities Trust, has pledged to donate a one off sum to a charity or community group involved in projects linked to education, the environment and employment. This is in addition to the £70,000 announced earlier this year.
"This one-off £50,000 grant underlines Stansted Airport's commitment to our local community, and a cash injection of this size is certain to be a major boost to the organisation successful in its bid," said Bob Wainwright, Chair of the Stansted Community Fund.
"Our panel members have great local knowledge and will evaluate all applications using our understanding and expertise to select the best possible recipient."
Many organisations have already benefited from thousands of pounds worth of grants donated by the Stansted Community Fund, including:
Cazfest, Bishop's Stortford. £5k to this music festival in aid of Cardiac risk in the young.
Essex Boys and Girls Club, Saffron Walden. £5k to the Uttlesford Respect Programme.
Beyond Youth, Chelmsford. £5k for therapeutic interventions for disadvantaged young people aged 14-18.
The Arts Centre, Great Dunmow. £2k contribution to musical workshops for local children.
Ware Skate Park, Ware. £5,000 donation towards development of this new facility
Marcella M'Rabety, Stansted Airport's Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, said:
"We're delighted to be able, through the Stansted Airport Community Fund, to offer so much support to so many organisations. We recognise our international business is situated within a thriving local community, so we take very seriously our work with community organisations and all those who live nearby to demonstrate that we are a responsible neighbour, that adds real value and helps many local good causes."
