Theatre stage set for revamp thanks to airport
10 January 2013
A project to revamp theatre staging at a local community centre has been given a major cash boost thanks to Stansted Airport.
The Chesterfords Community Centre, near Saffron Walden, has been awarded £5,000 from the Stansted Community Fund towards new lighting equipment for their stage refurbishment. The Fund supports volunteering, environmental and youth schemes within a 40 mile radius of the airport.
Chris Bailey from the Chesterfords Community Centre, said:
"The monies that the Stansted Community Fund has provided will be put towards the lighting element of the stage, enabling the centre to put on shows and productions. It will be a fantastic facility for the youth club, local schools and pre-schools that use the centre. We are really excited that the project has now become a reality."
Marcella M'Rabety, Fund panel member and the airport's Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, said:
"Through the excellent work of the Stansted Community Fund, we're delighted the airport can support this very worthwhile project that will clearly benefit the whole community. Our support demonstrates the strength of our commitment to the local communities surrounding the airport and specifically projects linked to schools and education."
