A traditionally French market town in a beautiful part of the country, don’t miss out on our selection of holidays to Bergerac. If you’re something of a wine connoisseur, Bergerac is the ideal place for you to visit. The pretty town is famous for its wonderful wines, and 13 different appellations call the region their home. Go on a tasting voyage along the Route des Vins de Bergerac, trying different efforts from the various producers as you learn about fascinating winemaking techniques. Chateaus including Bridoire, Michel de Montaigne and Monbazillac are among the highlights on the route. Bergerac is also famous for its tobacco, and there’s a museum you can visit that’s dedicated to the town’s tobacco-producing heritage. There’s also a local town museum and a statue museum to explore, while the Notre Dame church should be on your list of places to visit while you’re sightseeing. Outside of town, the Dordogne region is renowned for is stunning scenery and imposing river. Explore the specular landscapes the river has carved out, or paddle along the water on a canoe. If you love hiking then you’re in for a treat, as you pick out trails that take you through the beautiful countryside. With over 1,500 castles in the Dordogne region, you won’t be short of landmarks to discover if you have a hire car.
