Fly from Stansted to Budapest and touch down in the Hungarian capital in less than two and a half hours. Book early for low prices, and a selection of departure times. Flights from Stansted to Budapest are scheduled throughout the day from early in the morning until the evening, and thanks to the prevalence of services, there should be no need to take a connecting flight.
Budapest’s airport lies just under 10 miles outside the city centre, although it’s not overly blessed with ground transportation links for completing your journey. Bus number 200E runs from the airport’s Terminal 2 to the Kőbánya-Kispest metro terminal, and the Ferihegy train station, between 4am and 11pm.
Take metro line M3 from Kőbánya-Kispest towards Újpest Központ to reach central Budapest, with connection to lines M1 and M2 possible at the Deák Ferenc tér stop. With the train, there are many services throughout the day running from Ferihegy to Nyugati railway station in the city centre.
During the night, bus number 900 runs from Terminal 2 to the South Pest bus garage, from here the 950 or 950A can be caught to the city centre. Tickets for buses and trains are very inexpensive; these can be purchased at the post office on the mezzanine level of Terminal 2A, newsagents, and the Tourist Information point on the arrivals levels of Terminals 2A and 2B.
Perhaps a simpler way of reaching the city centre would be to take a taxi or make use of the Airport Shuttle-Minibus shared ride service; which is a comfortable door-to-door way of continuing your onward journey. Those looking to hire their own vehicle can select between rental firms Avis, Buchbinder, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.
