If you love being in the sun then holidays to Larnaca will be perfect for you. Cyprus sits just off Turkey’s south coast in the eastern Mediterranean. It’s close to North Africa and Western Asia, so you can be sure you’ll get lots of hot weather if you’re going over summer, while winters are nice and mild. Larnaca is a great destination whether you’re going with the family, as a couple or with your mates. If you’re going for a bit of a party holiday, it’s just 40 minutes to Aiya Napa by car or there are buses that can whisk you to the lively resort’s bars and clubs. It’s also a good spot for visiting if you’re going on a family holiday as there’s a great waterpark in town. If you’re less of a party animal and more of a sightseer then Larnaca’s historic centre is the place for you. Wander among the old buildings and churches, including the Church of Saint Lazarus. One of the area’s most popular attractions is the 14th century Othello’s Castle which you can get to in around an hour by bus. Just to the west of the city is the Larnaca Salt Lake, a formation that seems to appear out of nowhere. If you’re planning on visiting at the start of the year then you should also be able to see pink flamingoes at the lake. Head to Varosha in Famagusta for a bit of a unique experience. It was once a tourist resort but was abandoned and is now a ghost town with deserted beaches and hotels, along with nesting sea turtles. Holidays to Larnaca are great whether you want to get out and explore or just relax on the beach and soak up the sun.
