Considered Italy’s second most important such event after Venice, the Giffoni Film Festival takes place in a village just outside Naples. In the region of 100,000 people visit the festival each year, which boasts a strong international reputation.
Festa di Piedigrotta
September
Large concerts, colourful parades and a week-long singing competition are all included in this annual celebration that lends its main focus to the fest day of the Madonna of Piedigrotta.
Natale e Napoli
December
Naples is a stunning place to be over Christmas, with the city putting on a series of communal events that include markets, concerts, plays and exhibitions. Most of the churches in the city put on elaborate nativity scenes to mark the festive period.
