Holidays to Naples are perfect if you love to explore. As one of the oldest cities in the world, it’s full of history and culture which you can experience with holidays to Naples from Stansted Airport. With thousands of years’ worth of history, Naples is brimming with interesting architecture and wonderful art. You'll find both of these things at the Royal Palace and Naples Cathedral, which includes the stunning Chapel of San Genanaro that’s littered with gorgeous frescoes and statues. The pretty bay and surrounding area is packed with beauty, and the imposing presence of Mount Vesuvius. If ancient history is your thing, you'll know all about this infamous volcano that destroyed the Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum during an eruption in 79 AD. You can get to both of these towns in less than half an hour from Naples, and visit the volcano independently or as part of a tour. You can also learn more about the eruption at the Naples Archaeological Museum back in the city. A great way to see the spectacular Amalfi coast is by hiring a car and exploring at your own pace. There’s plenty of welcoming restaurants along the way to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat with lovely views out across the Tyrrhenian Sea. As the birthplace of Pizza, you really must try one if you’re going to Naples. Thin-crust pizzas are the traditional specialty, although there’ll be much more besides this famous dish to tempt you on the city’s menus.
