Disabled Parking

For security reasons the Blue Badge scheme does not operate on the Stansted Airport road system. Unattended vehicles will be towed away by the police and a fine must be paid in order to retrieve such vehicles.

Blue Badge parking bays are available in each of the following car parks:

Short Stay Disabled Car Parking

Short Stay Car Park (Orange and Green Zones)

  • Blue Badge parking spaces are available and are just a short walk from the terminal building.
  • Should you require a wheelchair or assistance, please use the help points located in the payment booths and on the main walkways adjacent to the terminal.
  • If you wish to park in a blue badge space, but need to take your badge abroad, please contact the car park operator via the help button on the entry barrier when you arrive at the car park entrance.
  • Assistance is available 24 hours a day. Help Points can be located in each payment booth and along the main walkway to the terminal.

Long Stay Car Park

  • If you're using the Blue Badge bays, press the help button in the bus shelter and notify the controller that you require a transfer coach to the terminal. The next available vehicle will be dispatched.
  • The courtesy bus service is free of charge and wheelchair-accessible. (View the Long Stay page for information on transfer time and frequency).
  • Users of these bays usually board the transfer bus before other passengers and are given seating priority and dedicated wheelchair points on board. The driver can assist you on and off the bus if required.
  • Help points are located outside each revolving entry door at the terminal should you require a wheelchair or further assistance.
  • Mobility scooters up to a maximum of 700mm by 1,200mm are allowed on board the courtesy buses. Having manoeuvred into the wheelchair space, passengers will be asked to transfer to a conventional vehicle seat during the journey.
  • Assistance is available 24 hours a day by pressing the help button on the entry and exit machines and the help points inside each bus shelter.

Mid Stay Car Park

  • Blue Badge parking spaces are situated in zone L and are close to the bus pick-up shelter.
  • All shelters are fitted with help points, which can be used to call for assistance.
  • A courtesy bus service operates to and from the terminal forecourt, all buses are wheelchair accessible and the driver can assist you on and off if required. Please allow up to 20 minutes to transfer to and from the terminal.
  • Help points are located outside each revolving entry door at the terminal should you require a wheelchair or further assistance.
  • Mobility scooters up to a maximum of 700mm by 1,200mm are allowed on board the courtesy buses, but having maneuvered into the wheelchair space passengers will be asked to transfer to a seat during the journey.

Express Set Down

Located just a short walk from the terminal. Follow signs for 'Express Set Down'.

  • Blue Badge spaces are located at the front, nearest the terminal.
  • Assistance is available 24 hours a day. Use the Help Point located next to the Blue Bays.
  • Vehicles cannot be left unattended in this area.
  • A ticketless entry system is in operation and payment is made on exit.
  • Minimum charge of £2.50 for 10 minutes and £2.50 for every minute thereafter.
  • Passengers can also use a free set down and pick up facility in the Mid Stay Car Park with wheelchair accessible courtesy bus service to and from the main terminal forecourt.

If you are a Blue Badge holder and will require longer than 10 minutes to be dropped off or picked up, please use the help point located by the Blue Bays to notify a member of staff and they will make arrangements for you to exit for the minimum charge of £2.50.

Free Drop Off and Pick Up

  • Located in the Mid Stay Car Park. Follow signs for 'Free Set Down'.
  • Free for up to 1 hour.

We offer a free pick up and drop off from a dedicated area in the Mid Stay Car park.  Just a 5 minute courtesy bus ride away from the terminal forecourt (buses run every 10 minutes). 

All buses are wheelchair accessible and the driver can assist you on and off if required. This facility is also ideal if the person driving you to the airport wishes to accompany you in and out of the terminal without incurring costs for parking.
