Fire service
Our fire service is one of the best in the world with an average response time of just two minutes, 20 seconds – making us significantly faster than legislation demands. We achieve this performance by investing over £2 million annually in the most advanced equipment and appliances – and in training and development. We’ve recently invested in new infrared cameras and global positioning systems linked to a central database so we can always be at the right place, at the right time.
Our firefighters undertake around 300 hours of training each year – more than most other airports around the world. We have a fleet of over 50 fire appliances including the new Viper foam tender.
