Stansted Airport Master Plan

The Government has asked airport operators to prepare a master plan for the future of the airport.

Stansted’s master plan will be published in two stages:

First, in May 2006, Stansted Airport published its Interim master plan that deals with growth on Stansted's existing runway (the draft interim master plan was published in July 2005 and this coincided with an extensive pre-application public consultation on the proposed Generation 1 planning application.)

The second stage will be a Final master plan that will outline our strategy for growth on a two-runway airport up to 2030. Within the next few months a draft Final master plan will be published for consultation. This will take into account of our plans for a second runway development.

Interim master plan

Stansted Airport's Interim master plan focuses primarily on BAA's plans for development of the airport on the exisiting runway and the likely social, environmental and economic impact this will have.
