Work in this area includes:
Contributing to an eco-friendly building at a Broxbourne school
Broxbourne Church of England School in Essex is raising money to replace a World War II era building into a new eco-friendly building at the school. The BAA Communites Trust helped their project by contributing £10,000 towards the fund. The new building will be made from recycled materials and comply with eco-friendly regulations regarding building materials. It will also feature energy-efficient heating and lighting systems, with under-floor heating powered mainly by solar panels.
Preserving a local canal
The BAA Communities Trust was approached in 2007 to support work needed to preserve the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation, a canalised river navigation that runs through Essex between Chelmsford and the Blackwater Estuary near Maldon. To help preserve the canal and maintain a footpath along the water the Trust contributed £1,500.
