Airport security and passenger experience
Did you know?
44.6% of people travelling to and from our airport now do so by public transport.
Airport security and passenger experience
The safe passage of passengers, staff and visitors as they travel through the airport is always our first priority. We also know that while security is very important to them, and us, what is also important is that the security procedures that we have in place are as efficient and stress-free as possible, allowing people to get on with their journey with the minimum of disruption.
Our approach
Our two main priorities therefore are to further increase the already high standard of security at Stansted while at the same time improving the passenger experience wherever possible.
As we did in 2006, we have continued to recruit security officers, recruiting a further 170 officers over 2007, to ensure we can always respond to passenger demand. We have also further improved our recruitment process to ensure that our security officers are of the highest standard by introducing automated document checking procedures to further improve the screening of all candidates.
On the arrivals side, we have worked with the Border and Immigration Agency to complete their plans for increased visibility measures and signage before passport control at the UK border.
