Our target for 2007

Category Target Performance
Health and safety Map, review and update health and safety procedures for all key risks. No progress made

To help develop consistent health and safety procedures across our airports, during the year performance standards were established for the BAA 'Managing Responsibly System' (MRS). The MRS provides a common management system for health and safety, fire safety and environment compliance, and aligns with Health and Safety Executive guidance and relevant International Standards (ISO14001).

During 2007 some of our key achievements were:

  • Continuing the downward trend in passenger and staff injuries. In 2007 Stansted achieved the second lowest passenger injury rate in the BAA group, seeing a 42% reduction in airport related passenger injuries
  • Extension of health and wellbeing services and support to staff, including free access to physiotherapy for musculoskeletal injuries and a health promotion event attended by approximately 1,000 airport employees
  • Having monthly Risk Governance Boards, chaired by the Managing Director, to review performance and drive continuous improvement as part of enhancing the Stansted Risk Governance process
  • Documentation of core risk processes communicated through the company intranet and put into effect through key managers.
