Stansted incident statement - 8 December 2008

Following the events of this morning Stansted Airport's services are returning to normal.

The protesters were quickly apprehended and contained by Essex Police, who made a number of arrests.
Essex Police had to bring in specialist equipment to remove the individuals and the runway was re-opened just after 08:00.

In respect of the disruption caused, Ryanair cancelled 52 inbound and outbound flights from Stansted.
