Future of flying

The future of flying looks different to today. Quieter, cleaner aircraft. Modern, greener terminals. New solutions to today's challenges.

It’s easy to forgot but over the last few decades flying has opened up the world: bringing cultures together, helping trade between countries and bringing more opportunities to all.

Whatever the challenges of the present day we know that now and in the future people will continue to fly – and do so in increasing numbers. Already our industry has lived through oil crisis, recessions and conflicts.

It’s precisely because we take a long term view that, working with our partners in the aviation industry, we can develop cleaner, quieter aircraft; terminals that are have less impact on the environment; safer and easier journeys for passengers.

This part of our website tells you more about our vision for the future of flying and how much of this vision will take shape as part of a second runway and terminal at Stansted in 2015 and beyond.
