Introductory Volume (Vol. 1)

This volume:

• introduces the component parts of the second runway development project, and identifies the various applications which are being promoted to bring the project forward;
• explains the approach to environmental impact assessment of the project and describes the assessment cases considered in this Environmental Statement; and
• describes the physical development for which applications are made for the second runway project and the forecast operational characteristics of that development.
