Health Impact Assessment

The aim of the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is to determine the likely health impacts of the second runway project on local residents and to identify ways in which benefits can be maximised and adverse impacts can be minimised. The HIA has been prepared having regard to three objectives:

• To identify the potential local health impacts (positive and negative) from the second runway development;
• To assess the likelihood and scale of the key local health impacts; and
• To make evidence based recommendations, which maximise positive impacts and minimise negative impacts and, as appropriate, recommend local requirements for monitoring local health impacts.
