Managing corporate responsibility

MeetingCorporate responsibility is essential to running both a successful and sustainable business; and as one of seven UK airports owned by BAA we benefit greatly from the experience, knowledge and best practice expertise shared with colleagues across the business.

Our corporate responsibility programme is fully supported by management systems, which currently focus on security, health and safety and the environment, with clear long term objectives and annual targets.

Enabling our employees to equip themselves with the right knowledge and skills is fundamental to integrating corporate responsibility into our business. Through discussion between line managers and staff, we ensure the right training needs are identified and all senior managers attend an annual workshop that focuses on business priorities and principles for the following year.

Risk management at Stansted is built around robust governance arrangements. These are designed to ensure effective implementation of the BAA Managing Responsibly System (MRS); the BAA Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE) Management System. The principal purpose of these arrangements is to provide a framework for management to exert effective leadership across Stansted Airport Ltd.

Strategic risks facing the business are documented by the Airport Risk Register, which is subject to periodic review by the Risk Governance Board on behalf of the Core Leadership Team at Stansted.
