Getting through Security

Enjoying a smooth journey through Security, whether making your own way or being accompanied by an Assistance agent.

Assisted Travel at Security

We recognise that getting through our security process can be a worry for our customers, so we have a designated lane for passengers requiring assistance. This lane is for passengers who are making their own way through the terminal as well as those being assisted by our Assistance agents. It is clearly signposted as ‘Assistance’ when you walk towards the security area, and a purple line on the floor will direct you right to the lane.

Search process

If you're travelling in a wheelchair but are able to stand for a short time, the security agent may ask you to go through the arch or body scanner.

However, if you are not able to, explain this to the security agent and you will be able to remain in your wheelchair. In this case, you will undergo a hand search by one of our security agents. If you do not feel comfortable with having the search in public, we do have a private search area where this can be conducted, please request this at the time.

Hidden disabilities

If you are making your own way through security and have any hidden disability or illness which could make the process more difficult or worrying, you can wear one of our Sunflower Awareness Lanyards to signal to security staff that you may need some assistance in the process.
