Sponsor company application rejection

Why your application may get rejected

A sponsor company application will only be approved if the organisation can demonstrate full compliance with the MAG Standard.

When applying to join the Security ID Scheme at one of MAG’s airports, the Nominated Officer and Authorised Signatory must understand that their sponsor company application may be rejected if it doesn't meet the required security, quality and compliance standards.

Reasons for rejection

Incomplete or inaccurate application information submitted

Missing or incorrect:
  • Business email addresses
  • Supporting forms and documents:
    • Formal contract or formal instruction of works on headed paper or a company email
    • Letter of reference from an accountant or solicitor

Applications must be fully complete and accurate before submission, or they will be rejected for non-compliance.

Insufficient evidence of a legitimate business need

Failure to demonstrate:
  • A valid contract or instruction of works
  • A valid operational requirement
  • A letter of reference from your accountant or solicitor (this should evidence that the company is legitimate and reputable)
  • A clear need for staff to access restricted areas

Sponsorship must be supported by a genuine operational requirement for airport access.

Failure to meet MAG Standard requirements

The organisation can't demonstrate that it can:
  • Comply with vetting standards
  • Manage ID passes securely

The Nominated Officer must confirm the organisation meets MAG Security ID Standard obligations.

Weak or non-compliant vetting processes

Lack of robust:
  • Employment screening procedures
  • Referencing processes
  • Background check controls

Organisations must show they can meet strict security vetting requirements before approval.

Incorrect or unsupported Nominated Officer/Authorised Signatory setup

Missing or unsuitable:
  • Nominated Officer appointment
  • Authorised Signatory appointment

The Nominated Officer must have:
  • Appropriate authority
  • Responsibility for compliance

Poor understanding of security responsibilities

Inability to demonstrate:
  • Awareness of insider risk
  • Knowledge of pass control requirements

Organisations must show a clear understanding of aviation security responsibilities.

Failure to provide supporting documentation

Missing documents such as:
  • Contracts / formal instruction of works
  • Letter of Reference from a Solicitor or Accountant

Supporting evidence is required to validate the organisation’s application.
