About Bordeaux

We’re not flying to this location at the moment, but check back soon for updates!

The beautiful port city of Bordeaux lies on the river Garonne in south west France. The area is widely recognised as the world capital of wine, but although wine-tasting is a huge draw, there’s lots to see and do beyond the vineyards. It’s been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for its iconic architectural sites as well as its narrow mediaeval streets and attractive honey-coloured stone buildings.

Bordeaux’s timeless style is also reflected in its classic restaurants, bars and shops – several of which are over 250 years old! Its pedestrianised streets, terraces and public squares make Bordeaux very easy to walk around – Rue Sainte-Catherine is the longest pedestrianised shopping street in Europe. There are also plenty of lovely parks and gardens, such as the famous Jardin Public, for enjoying a picnic.

Don’t miss the Cité du Vin, a modern museum which uses an immersive approach to explain how simple organic grape juice can be transformed into a celebrated vintage. Another recogniseable landmark is the impressive 18th century Place de la Bourse – check out its reflection in the stunning Miroir d’Eau. This is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves great food and wine, history and architecture.
