Mersin

This large port city lies between Antalya and Adana on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey. With a rich and significant history, the impressive remains of its ancient architecture continue to fascinate visitors to this day. Millennia-old columns, ancient baths and a grand theatre still exist at the site of the city of Soli Pompeiopolis where visitors can stand in the footsteps of Alexander the Great. At the nearby Mersin Archaeological Museum you’ll find beautiful amphoras, statues and other fascinating artefacts which offer a glimpse into day to day ancient life.

The heart of modern Mersin lies around Mersin Marina, where you can stroll by the yachts on the harbour and visit the boutiques and restaurants along the waterfront. Mersin is also lined with beautiful sandy beaches for relaxing or enjoying a range of water sports. You can even take a boat ride from Kızkalesi Beach to the famous Maiden’s Castle. A visit to the picturesque Tarsus Waterfall is also highly recommended for a tranquil day out where you can enjoy a walk in the lush surroundings.
