Have a smooth journey through Security
Your guide to going through Security
We know that getting through Security can be a worry for some people, but we’re here to make it easy. Our officers have all received Disability Awareness training, so they’re aware of sensitivities around disabilities.
Our designated lane for passengers requiring assistance means that you can get any help you may need. Simply look for the ‘Assistance’ sign and a purple line on the floor, which will direct you right to the lane.
What can I take through Security in my hand luggage?
Our Security page has all the information about liquid allowances, prescription medication, electrical items, and more.
The search process
Once you’re at the front of the queue, it’s time to go through the search process.
If you're travelling in a wheelchair but can stand, our friendly security officers may ask you to stand to go through the body scanner. Walking aids are also available if needed.
However, if you're not able to, you’ll be able to stay in your wheelchair. In this case, you’ll need to have a hand search by one of our Security officers once you're through the scanner. If you don’t feel comfortable with having the search in public, we have a private search area instead.
For those travelling with an assistance dog, learn about the search process. If you have a non-visible disability, you can wear one of our Sunflower Lanyards to let Security staff know that you may need some assistance in the process.
If you have any other requirements, our Security staff will do their best to accommodate your needs. Please discuss this with a member of staff when you approach the body scanners.
