Noise Action Plan

Information about the London Stansted Airport Noise Action Plan

At Stansted Airport we are committed to minimising the impact of airport operations on neighbouring communities. Our Noise Action Plan details a range of actions and measures to reduce or mitigate the impact of aircraft noise on our communities.

You can find details of our current Noise Action Plan, which runs from 2024 to 2028, on this website.

Following consultation from 17 July to 5 November 2023, we have revised our draft plan to reflect comments received. We have received notification from Defra that our Draft NAP meets the Environmental Noise (England) Regulations 2006 (as amended).

Whilst approved by Defra, we are waiting for Secretary of State sign off.

The current Noise Action Plan is the fourth for London Stansted Airport and it is based on noise maps prepared by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) showing the situation at the airport in 2021. The Noise Action Plan includes existing and proposed measures to manage aircraft noise and shows how we intend to measure and report progress against our targets.

We have received notification from Defra that our draft Noise Action Plan meets the appropriate requirements. Whilst approved by Defra, we are waiting for Secretary of State sign off.

The Noise Action Plan (2024-2028) is available to download here. For those who want an overview of the plan, there will be a Noise Action Plan Summary document published once we have received approval from the Secretary of State for Defra.
